A high school girls' volleyball team in California forfeited a state playoff game because the opposing team had a male player playing on the team, the school announced.
Stoneridge Christian High School in Merced was scheduled to play San Francisco Waldorf in the Northern California Division 6 Tournament. San Francisco Waldorf was the No. 1 seed in its bracket, so it received a bye into the semifinals. Stone Ridge Christian defeated North Hills Christian.

On Friday, Stoneridge Christian officials announced in a statement that they will not play against San Francisco Waldorf.
“As many of you know, our girls won on Wednesday and advanced to the state playoffs,” the school announced through Max Preps. “Unfortunately, we were just informed that our opponent, San Francisco Waldorf, has a male athlete on their team.
“At SRC, we believe that the Word of God is authoritative and infallible. It is true. And as the book of Genesis makes clear, God is amazingly, unchangeably and infallible with each person. created as male or female. We do not believe that gender is changeable. “I do not intend to participate in a gender change.”As this is an event that conveys a different message, we have a duty and responsibility to care for the health and safety of our players, so after consulting with our students, coaches, and staff, we have decided to: We have made the difficult decision to cancel Saturday's game. According to OutKick, the player in question is a three-spot player who led San Francisco Waldorf to the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) North Coast Championship last season.
CIF established the Gender Identity Participation Regulation in 2013.
