The Deerfield Public Schools 109 district responds to a federal Title IX investigation launched on an administrator's allegation that forces middle school students to change in the same locker room as trans students.
The district provided a statement to Fox News Digital, which claims its actions are rooted in Illinois law.
“Deerfield Public Schools 109 District is governed by state law. Illinois Human Rights Act prohibits all public school districts, including gender identity, from discrimination based on gender, and requires students to allow access to locker rooms and bathrooms according to their gender identity.

“We are sensitive to the privacy needs of all middle school students and ensure that there is no need to change to gym uniforms for the previous PE classes of other students. If both middle schools were renovated in 2017, we added five private change stations available to all students.
The district also said it will work with local families to decide on the next step.
“The district and the board are united with our leaders and educators on this issue and have a common commitment to supporting the law,” the statement continued.
“The district and the board are calling on all people who express concerns and perspectives on the issue to ensure that staff and educators are respectful and civic. We are pleased to work with our families to determine the appropriate next step to help our children in the well-being and participation.”
Maine responds to Title IX that violates the state of Trump Administrator's Declaration by allowing transgender women's sports
The U.S. Department of Education's Civil Rights Office announced Thursday it would begin an investigation into Title IX violations of the Illinois Department of Education, Chicago Public Schools 299 and Deerfield Public Schools District 109.
Illinois mother Nicole Georgas revealed the situation last month when school administrators filed a civil rights complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice after they allegedly tried to force her 13-year-old daughter to change in front of transgender students in the girls' locker room last month.
She revealed her complaints last week during a school board meeting for Deerfield Public School District 109. The incident allegedly happened last month after her daughter refused to change her uniform during physical education because of a biological male student at the time.

“The girls want to get their locker rooms and bathrooms back. They want to get their privacy back. So I'm here tonight. My 13-year-old daughter's happiness, mental health and privacy are at risk,” Jogus said in a speech at the board meeting Thursday.
Georgas then raised the issue to the school administration, pointing out to them that he believes President Donald Trump is directly violating the fact that he has kept men out of women's sports executive orders. In her speech, the school administrator said, under the direction of a legal counsel, she informed her that transgender students were free to use both the girls' bathroom and the girls' locker room.
