It's no secret that the Los Angeles Dodgers have been able to attract Japanese stars recently.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto chose the Dodgers for the New York Mets last year.
Recently, Saga Roki also chose the Dodgers, despite reportedly providing more money.
Due to his age, Sasaki, 23, was limited to the money in the team's international pool.

And Shohei Ohtani decided to stay in Los Angeles before the 2024 campaign and sign with the Dodgers.
The Japanese star has joined other teams in recent years, but since Yamamoto and Sasaki arrived with the Yankees in 2014, they have been expected to pitch outside of Otani.
Prior to the 2023 season, Kodai signed a five-year, $90 million contract with the New York Mets, and was scheduled to be at the top of the rotation this season after missing out on most of last season.
As he reported spring training on Tuesday, Senga was asked how the Mets could land more Japanese stars, and he was cruelly honest.
“Of course I love having a little more for the Mets, but the climate is good there and I think it definitely plays a role,” Senga said.

Yankees manager shoots the Dodgers and claims lack of “class” in World Series title talk
“We need to build a roof.”
Mets owner Steve Cohen had previously teased the roof. But last year he said “the ship sailed.”
It is likely that there will be more Japanese stars that will soon arrive in the United States. Murakami, a left-handed slugger who attacked 56 Homer in 2022 and has a career OPS of .938 overseas, is scheduled to participate in the major leagues next year.
It is also important to note that the Blue Jays have a roof. So the weather was clearly not everything in Sasaki.
