The Argentine president became the first foreign leader to meet directly with President-elect Trump since his victory last week.
Javier Millay, known as “The Lion,” has gained worldwide notoriety for his pro-market policies that have curbed inflation in Argentina since taking office last year.
He attended the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) Gala at Mar-a-Lago on Thursday night and will stay until the CPAC Investor Summit, which concludes Saturday.

President-elect Trump and President Milley met early Thursday and the meeting “went well,” according to an anonymous source via The Associated Press.
In a post on social media site X, he shared his plans for the week ahead with President-elect Trump, claiming he would be the only other president to attend the summit.
“We are going to plant the idea of freedom high,” Millay told Argentine media outlet Clarion as she was ushered out the door of the AFPI celebration on Thursday.
In a speech at the ceremony, Milley congratulated President Trump on his landslide victory through an interpreter, saying, “This was the greatest political reversal in history, where people risked their lives to defy the entire political system.'' ” he said.

He also thanked Elon Musk for his role in driving his social media site X to communicate with President-elect Trump around the world.

“Despite the enemies of freedom clinging to power through propaganda, distortion and censorship, the silent, or rather silent, majority is beginning to make its voice heard,” Millais said. “That's why I especially want to thank the great Elon Musk, who has done such a great job helping humanity in communications around the world.”
The Argentine president then claimed that what happened in last week's US election was similar to his own election last year, which the “Party of Freedom” won.
Millay is seen as a Trump-like figure in South America, and sells black hats similar to red MAGA hats to fans labeled “Las Fuerzas del Cielo” or “Force from Heaven” I am doing it. He is also famous for brandishing a chainsaw at political rallies and vowing to cut wasteful government spending.

“And Javier, I want to commend you for what you've done for Argentina,” Trump said. “Your speech was great, but the job you did was incredible. Make Argentina great again. You know MAGA. He's a MAGA guy. And You know he's doing it. He's actually doing it.”
“You know, I think you've done a great job in a very short period of time. It's an honor to have you here.”
