Social media critics are calling out Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff for an interview with MSNBC host Jen Psaki where he was praised for changing “perceptions of masculinity,” after he previously admitted to being the family's nanny. is having an affair.

The account was responding to excerpts of Emhoff's interview with Psaki, who served as President Biden's White House press secretary before joining MSNBC, in which Psaki praised Emhoff for reinventing masculinity.

“There's also an important and interesting part about how people talk about your character: how your character reshaped perceptions of masculinity,” Psaki said. “I don't know if you planned it, but you're an incredibly supportive spouse. Was that an evolution for you? That's the role you can play as first gentleman. Do you think that's part of it?
“It's funny. I started thinking about this a lot. I've always been like this. My dad has always been like this. For me, supporting women is the right thing to do. That's something Kamala and I have in common. 'We support each other and we support each other,' Emhoff replied.
She added, “We've said many times that when we lift up women, we're supporting them on pay equity, child care, family leave, and all of this hellish post-Dobbs issues. . Women should not be less than that.” Women should not have less rights or be treated differently. That's not the American way. ”

Just last month, critics cited Emhoff as admitting that he had had an affair with the family's nanny during his first marriage several years ago, and footage of the exchange spread like wildfire on social media. A close friend of the nanny claimed to the media that the nanny became pregnant during her affair with Emhoff but did not leave behind a baby.
Critics also accused Psaki of “softball press conferences.”

Emhoff admitted to having an affair with his family's nanny in August, shortly after the Daily Mail published a report that he had impregnated his daughter's nanny. A close friend of the nanny told the media that she had not taken custody of the baby, but did not elaborate further.
The affair with the nanny occurred before Emhoff dated and eventually married Harris.
“During our first marriage, Kerstin and I went through some tough times because of my actions. I took responsibility and in the years since then we have worked through things as a family and come out stronger in each other's shoes. ,” Emhoff said. Over the summer, he admitted to having an affair but declined to reveal the name of the nanny.

Emhoff and his first wife, Kerstin Emhoff, were married from 1992 to 2008 and had two adult children. Ms. Harris married Ms. Emhoff in 2014 and helped them co-parent their children, whom she calls their stepmother, “Mamalla.''
The New York Post reported that the couple cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their divorce.

Harris knew about this before they were married, and the Biden campaign also knew about it when they were vetting her as Biden's running mate in 2020.
