Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott wants to play again this season.
Prescott partially tore a bone in his right hamstring during the Cowboys' 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. This is known as partial delamination.
Owner Jerry Jones said on his radio show that the star quarterback wants to avoid surgery.

“He needs a few weeks off to determine if he really needs surgery. He doesn't want surgery. He wants to get out on the field and try it. He's considering it. We're looking at it,'' Jones said on his radio show Tuesday.
Jones went through a similar situation two years ago when standout left tackle Tyron Smith missed 13 games with a complete tear of his hamstring, a star player who suffered a hamstring injury.

Two years ago, Rush went 4-1 as a starter when Prescott missed Dallas' season opener loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a broken thumb.
Jones said Trey Lance, the San Francisco 49ers' No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, could be available in Prescott's absence.
“Yeah, Trey Lance has a chance,” Jones said. “There's a package that we can work on. Let's be clear, it's not just about giving Lance playing time. It's about giving us offense.”

Jones said the Cowboys don't feel any urgency to place Prescott on injured reserve because they may not need a spot on the 53-man active roster at this time.
If the team places Prescott on IR, he will miss at least four games.
