After helping the Yankees advance to the 2024 World Series, Soto switched New York City Boroughs and signed a historic deal with the Mets.

Before Friday's match, Soto spoke about the possibility that fans could boo him. However, it didn't seem to wet the slugger's excitement about returning to the Bronx.
“I don't care,” Soto told Athletic.
Before the 2025 regular season began, Soto admitted that he “hoping for the worst” from the Yankees loyal guy when he visited Yankee Stadium.
“I know Yankees fans. They can surprise you with anything,” the four-time MLB All-Star said in March.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone gained a careful tone leading up to Friday's matchup, advised fans “don't go too far.”
“It's interesting. I'm sure there's creativity there,” Boone said before the match. “We just want everyone to come, have a good time, be safe and not take things too far.”
Soto urged the Yankees in support of a 15-year, $765 million contract with the Mets in December. A contract that does not include deferred money is the most profitable contract in the history of professional sports.
