For the past 25 years, I have spent nearly every day on Chicago's South Side instilling values of hard work, responsibility, and responsibility in the hearts of young black men. That's why I have been appalled by the ferocious efforts of Democratic Party elites to undermine these American values in their patronizing efforts to win the votes of black men.
What makes this so damning is that these Democrats know the truth. They know that the past 60 years of policies of dependency and racial manipulation have failed miserably. They know in their hearts that they played a role in betraying black people by reducing them to a permanent black underclass throughout America. They know about the difficult work of uplifting American values that men and women like me do in these communities. But they will betray all of that by appealing to our weakest natures to vote.
Why do they call themselves our champions and say they support us?
It's 'wrong' for Barack Obama to 'preach' to black men who don't support Kamala Harris: former Bernie Sanders adviser
Former President Barack Obama recently went out to Democratic presidential candidates to tell black men that “women have always had our backs in our lives when we've had tough times.” urged people to vote for Kamala Harris.
Have you ever had a problem? Is the former president associating black men with crime? And is he saying we're misogynists and race traitors if we don't vote for Harris? If Obama can't see us as humans, as individuals, and as Americans with the same interests as the rest of this country, like inflation, jobs, and infrastructure, that reflects what he really thinks of us. It's just that, nothing more.
Days after the former president's comments, Harris announced an Opportunity Agenda for Black Men. Among the things she offers are “$1 million loans that are fully forgivable up to $20,000.” A pledge to “protect crypto investments so Black men know their money is safe” and a pledge to “legalize recreational marijuana.” Oh, and she's also focused on mentoring services, perhaps in an effort to add some respectability to what is otherwise just a regular distribution program.
My vote, like those of other voters in my neighborhood, is not cheap. We value our votes, and above all, we value ourselves as upstanding citizens who want what's best for our country.
Why doesn't she treat us like Americans? Giving up to $20,000 as a forgivable loan to a race invariably leads to corruption and people taking the money with no intention of paying it back. And that corruption will be used against our race. Remember how it backfired on Black people even though there was a lot of money given out after Hurricane Rita and many Black people used it for housing and food?
If you want to make progress, stop treating us as exceptions to the rule. I tell the young people in my neighborhood that there are consequences for bad decisions. And I enforce those results. That's how they learn responsibility.

Perhaps most insultingly, Harris equates “opportunity” with the legalization of recreational marijuana. “Think about it. Opportunity and entertainment are in the same sentence. 'Opportunity' is not entertainment. Opportunity is about chopping wood, burning the midnight oil, never giving up, and it's the path to a better life, and it shouldn't be trivialized like Harris combining it with weeds, and why she Obama Do we associate the criminal elements of marijuana with black people? Us?
they don't know about us. If they do, they'll see the work we're doing on the south side. We work with troubled young men and women to help them become productive citizens who work in construction, electricians, forklift drivers, media artists, and entrepreneurs. We are more than that.
And last week, after Harris' promise, CNN political contributor and former Obama adviser Van Jones was seen calling Harris' plan “a love letter to black men” in a video about X. He went on to thank Black men for giving them “some respect and care and concern…we needed Kamala's Mamala.”
All I have to say to this is where has our self-esteem gone? Have we forgotten the pride we felt when we watched black Americans rise from nothing and reach for the stars? michael jordan. James Brown. Miles Davis. we changed the world. We made our impact felt around the world. If you go to other countries, you'll see our influence there. But even though we live in the freest country in the world, we still rely on our government for help. We have reached a new low of entitlement and dependence dressed up as love letters.

I refuse to be deceived any further. My vote, like those of other voters in my neighborhood, is not cheap. We value our votes, and above all, we value ourselves as upstanding citizens who want what's best for our country.
It's time for Democrats to admit their failures and start treating us like the American people.
