Kevin Willard left the Terrapins men's basketball team in Maryland, and attempted to revive the program that he saw Jay Wright leave several years ago.
Willard's departure came after the Terrapins had a crazy, fun run in March. This shows Derrick Queen's buzzer beater has won the state of Colorado. Maryland's run ended with the Sweet 16, losing to the first-place Florida Gators.

It was Willard's team's deepest tournament run as they took over the Terps before the start of the 2022-23 season. He was with Seton Hall Pirates before that.
However, as soon as he arrived, Willard was gone. He was announced as Villanova's new head coach on Sunday as the Wildcats prepared for the college basketball crown. Willard's decision to leave Maryland's furious fans, including ESPN broadcaster Scott Van Pelt.

Maryland alumnus Van Pelt appeared to be angry at the way Willard started the tournament. The coach took a shot of Subtol with outgoing track and field director Damon Evans, complaining about the lack of resources the program had.
The broadcaster suggested that Willard's request was not made in good faith.

Anyway, Willard is on a new journey. He was 65-39 in three seasons for Maryland. He spent 12 years at Seton Hall and three years at Iona.
