The New York Knicks are making another big move before the season begins to make the most of their championship window.
According to multiple reports, the Knicks are acquiring Karl-Anthony Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves and are planning to release Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo.
According to some reports, the Knicks are also adding a first-round pick.
The Knicks reached the second round of the playoffs without Randle last year, but Randle dislocated his shoulder earlier this year and missed the rest of the season.

Towns was part of a T-Wolves team that featured Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert that reached the Western Conference Finals before losing to the Dallas Mavericks.
Randle had a mixed record in New York, sometimes frustrating fans with his play and even giving him the thumbs up because he was sure to get booed. However, during his tenure, Randle rejuvenated himself as a player, earning his first two All-Star selections and averaging 22.6 points and 9.9 rebounds per game.
DiVincenzo averaged a career-high 15.5 points per game last season, started a career-high 63 games, and shot over 40 percent from 3-point range for the first time in his career.

However, Towns is on track to become a Hall of Famer and is being talked about as the best shooting big man of all time. He was named an All-Star for the fourth time last season, hitting 41.6 percent from three, the second-best mark of his career.
It's a homecoming for Towns, who grew up near central New Jersey and attended St. Joseph High School in Metuchen. He was the No. 1 pick in the 2015 NBA Draft out of Kentucky.
Apparently having heard the news, Towns posted “…'' on X.
Earlier this offseason, the Knicks acquired Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets, further cementing their status as the Nova Knicks, where Bridges, Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart played together at Villanova. But so was DiVincenzo.
The Knicks needed a big man. The Knicks lost Isaiah Hartenstein in free agency, and the injured Mitchell Robinson reportedly won't be ready by the start of the season.

The two sides are said to be finalizing the details – with The Athletic's reporter pointing out that the salaries of the three players involved are not aligned. But it appears to be a matter of when, not if, this deal will be completed.
