First on Fox: Republican senators debut the measure on Thursday, repealing the Road Security Agency (TSA).
R-UTAH Senator Mike Lee leads the bill along with R-ALA Senator Tommy Tuberville.
“The TSA not only invaded most Americans' privacy and personal spaces, but it has repeatedly failed tests to find weapons and explosives. Our bill can privatize security features at American airports under the eyes of aviation security surveillance and bring this bureaucratic giant to the end of the welcome.

This measure will officially abolish the TSA three years after it is enacted by the law. Senators believe it will provide time to privatize security.
The bill also directs homeland security and transportation secretaries to develop a reorganization plan and submit it to Congress.
“The TSA is an inefficient, bureaucratic disruption that violates the freedoms of Americans,” Tuberville said in his own statement.
The Senate confirms Dr. Marty McCurry as Trump's FDA chief
“It's a bloated agency that is plagued by unnecessary delays, invasive putdowns and bag checks, bulging, fraud and taxpayer dollar abuse that has led to traveller dissatisfaction. We need to focus on more efficient and effective methods without sacrificing the liberties and freedoms of American citizens. We are accountable for limited government surveillance, when streamlined and appropriate,” he added.
The senator specifically states in the law that the reorganization plan cannot require private security companies to do legitimate searches or to extend the TSA in any way.

Once the plan is submitted, Congress will consider it.
The bill will also create an Aviation Security Surveillance Office under the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The new office will oversee the privatization of security screenings at the airport.

It is unclear what level of support the measure will receive in Congress, but it is unlikely that it will overcome the 60-vote threshold for the legislative filibuster. There is a majority of Republicans, with 53 senators taking part in the meeting. There are 47 senators with Democrats and Caucus.
