Some thought the Detroit Lions, who play their first overseas game of the season on Sunday, wouldn't have the same advantage that has given them a 6-1 record all season.
Now, the Lions outscored their NFC North rival Green Bay Packers 7-1 in the rain, retaining their spot atop the division with a 24-14 win.
It may have only been a 10-point lead, but it was a sloppy game weather-wise, with the Lions battling on both ends throughout the game.

And when the Lions stepped off the bus, the tone was set. Star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown wore a black hoodie with “GREENBAY SUCKS” written on the front, showing just how heated the rivalry is.
St. Brown supported the trash talk and scored the first touchdown of the game with a tough grab in front of the left end zone for a 7-3 lead. Last year's attempt resulted in a Packers fan throwing beer on him, so this time he didn't do the Lambeau Leap.

Instead, St. Brown surprised his teammates with a handstand that totaled 56 yards on seven receptions.
However, due to the wet weather, the Lions backfield's two-headed monster of David Montgomery and Jahmil Gibbs combined for 138 rushing yards, with the latter finding the end zone on a fourth-and-one play in the third quarter. It was Detroit's only touchdown in the second half.
Montgomery finished the game with 73 yards on 17 carries and Gibbs had 65 yards on 11 ground touches.
For the Packers, Jordan Love threw for 273 yards but couldn't find the end zone all night. However, he made a successful interception, costing his team six points.

Near the end of the first half, Kirby Joseph picked off Love, who was trying to dump the ball to running back Josh Jacobs. And Joseph completely took it back, giving his team a 17-3 lead at that point.
With the ball in hand to start the second half, the Lions saw Gibbs reach the paint and the 24-3 lead was what everyone already thought. This is the top team in the NFC.
Detroit found success in a variety of ways, but it was the Packers who looked better on the stat sheet, with Jacobs gaining 95 rushing yards on 13 carries and Jaden Reed rushing five times, including 41 yards. He gained a game-high 113 receiving yards with his catch. .
The only touchdown the Packers scored came from Emmanuel Wilson, who rushed from 2 yards out with 3:49 left in the fourth quarter.
