On Saturday, No. 13 LSU stunned No. 9 Ole Miss with a dramatic tying touchdown and then the game-winning touchdown, winning 29-26 in overtime. The win reaffirmed LSU's continued dominance over its SEC rivals nationally and extended its winning streak by a decade and a half.
Ole Miss hasn't won a game in Death Valley since 2008, and hasn't won back-to-back games in this rivalry since 2008-2009. Both streaks will continue beyond Saturday.
Ole Miss needed just one play to end the losing streak and get a big win to help restart the CFP.
In the final moments of the fourth quarter, LSU led by seven points on fourth down from the Ole Miss 23-yard line. At that point, Ole Miss had a better than 94% chance of winning, according to ESPN's calculations. But then LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeyer threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Anderson to tie the game.

LSU got several breaks throughout the game and capitalized on its opportunities.
LSU recovered a fumble just before halftime and got a late field goal, cutting the deficit to just four points at halftime. Ole Miss running back Henry Parrish turned the ball over when his team was just trying to use up the remaining time.
However, LSU was unable to take advantage of a similar situation in the fourth quarter. After a strip-sack fumble by Ole Miss quarterback Jackson Dart, LSU kicker Damian Ramos missed 46 yards to the right.

Rebel quarterback Jackson Dart passed for 284 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, and wide receivers Kayden Lee and Tre Harris each led the way with over 100 yards receiving.
LSU entered the game on a four-game winning streak, two of which were against weaker teams in UCLA and South Alabama.
LSU coach Brian Kelly and Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin are the only active coaches in the conference with 100 FBS wins. Kiffin has won 39 of those games since coming to Mississippi State. Had Kiffin's team held Saturday, it would have become the fastest team in Ole Miss program history to reach 40 wins.
But that wasn't what was meant to be.
