A school board meeting in Maine's capital city Augusta on Wednesday night saw a controversial interaction between parents wearing “Maga” hats and the school board president over the state's ongoing controversy, including trans-athletes in women's sports.
Augusta's school board chair Martha Witham cut off local parent Nick Blanchard and discussed the controversial issue and the petition that Connie Middle School principal Kim Liscomb was removed from her position, as seen in the meeting footage.

Liscom is currently the president of the Main Principal Association (MPA), supporting trans athletes taking part in school sports based on gender identity, and is subject to scrutiny by President Donald Trump's administration on the issue.
Appearing at the meeting wearing a “Maga” hat and a “You're fired,” Blanchard began his speech by celebrating six of the seven members of the board who voted to adopt a 2020 interpretation of Title IX that did not allow trans athletes to compete as girls.
Blanchard also denounced board members who voted against it, which prompted Widham to stop the first.
“We appreciated the good work and the six members who voted back to Title IX's 2020 interpretation, and shamed one board member who voted no,” Blanchard began.
Wism cut him off, saying, “I'm sorry, but I'm not allowed to comment negatively.”
Blanchard then discussed his petition to remove Liscombe.

“This petition asks… if a member of the school board votes.”
Wism told Blanchard that his statement was “unacceptable” and warned him that if he continues to make “abusiness statement” he will be asked to resign from the podium.
When Blanchard asked how his statement was “defensible”, Widham replied, “I don't need to explain it to you.”
“These comments will not be tolerated in meetings directed at us or others in this room,” Willam said.
Blanchard then agreed to proceed with the speech without mentioning Liscom by name.
“So, as most people know, the president of the Main Principals' Association,” Blanchard began before Willam interrupted her at the last hour.
“No, it's close enough. Sorry, you're done, Mr. Blanchard,” said Willam.
When Blanchard left, he cried out, “Here is the Communist China!”

Maine is now considered ground zero in national debates regarding the transport of girls and women to sports as several federal agencies are putting pressure on the state to amend current policies that allow for trans-inclusion since February.
The USDA freezes funds to the state last week, and the Department of Health and Human Services has already introduced Maine Department of Education, MPA and Greeley High School to the Department of Justice.
Friday is the deadline for states to either modify current policies or face another referral to the Department of Justice by the U.S. Department of Education.
