Geno Auriemma swiped on the NCAA tournament system to prepare the UConn Huskies for a sweet 16 game against the Oklahoma Sooners.
The Women's Basketball Tournament moved to two regional sites in 2023. This means that this season, the regional semi-finals and finals will take place in either Birmingham, Alabama or Spokane, Washington.
Eight teams are packed into each local site.

Next month, the women's final four will be at its peak in Tampa, Florida.
Auriemma expressed a silly response to the two regions at a press conference, saying it “smashed the game.”
“Half of the country doesn't have the opportunity to get into the game in person. But you're making billions from television. Well, in fact, you're not. It's a men's tournament,” he said via ESPN. “So, yeah, there are a lot of issues they need to fix. And again, we can get our a–beat and it doesn't change my feelings.”
Auriemma added, “In a normal world, there will be only four teams here run by ordinary people.”
“There are a lot of people in the women's basketball community who think they're smarter than you (how to run things in men's basketball).

The Husky concluded their home schedule at Gumpel Pavilion on Monday in Storps, Connecticut. The team then had to fly to Spokane, Washington for the next round of the tournament. If the team wins in the Spokane area, they will fly to Tampa.
Due to the number of teams, Auriemma said his team must wake up a 30-minute shootaround at 7:30pm local time at 5am local time
The Auriemma team is used to strange travel situations.
Last year, the team played games for the Storrs before playing in the Women's Final Four in Portland, Oregon, the region and Cleveland. In 2023, the team went to Seattle from Storrs before losing in the regional semi-finals.
