It's already a big deal to cut with the master.
But for Max Homa, it was an even bigger deal when he reached the weekend after a rough second-round performance on Friday.
For Homa, it was his first time cutting in a tournament since he arrived at the Open Championship over the weekend on July 19, 2024.
“The tough times don't last, tough people do,” Homa said on the PGA tour after his round.

“You're constantly trying to learn and evolve. I know that even I've come back eight times, but it feels good not to beat yourself here. So it was good.”
The 34-year-old Homa struggled in the first round and shot a two-over-pal 74. His second round was a start to a steroid when he bogeyed the first hole, putting him in danger of missing yet another cut.
Despite the bogey in the first hole, Homa sat down and didn't bogey the rest.

It wasn't always beautiful for Homa. He had to hit eight of the 14 (57%) fairways (57%) and scramble a lot to save par.
Homa played this weekend of the PGA Tour season, but there were no cuts at two events he did: Sentry and AT&T Pebble Beach Proam. Homa did not reach the weekend in the tournament at the cut line.

This was Homa's sixth career start at the Masters, and after 67 in the first round last year, he finished his tie in third place. Homa is trying to build on his positive momentum this year, as he cuts the cut into a top-10 finish.
HOMA took part in the PGA Tour in 2014, earning six career wins on the tour. His final victory was at the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open.
