“It has been going on since 1974,” he added to X's post.
He seemed to be surprised that the “Interstellar” star fans were Washington's fan, but Makonohe said in 2014 about his support for the NFL team.
He told GQ magazine that he became a fan due to an old western play. He said, “I support the Indians,” and said that he liked the hamburgers, so he liked Red Skins thanks to the line backer Chris Hamburger.
At that time, he expressed his support for maintaining Red Skins's nickname. Daniel Snider, the team owner at the time, pledged not to change his name, but changed his name in 2020 in the summer when tension between races in the United States increased.

“I'm interested in how quickly it has penetrated social consciousness,” he told the magazine at the time. “Since the 1930s, we all have no problem, but suddenly we start thinking,” No, I have to change it? ” I know many native Americans don't feel any problems, but they don't say, “No, I really want the name.” They don't intend to use the sermon as that way.
“This resembles my feelings about gun control.” I understand. You have the right to have a gun. But forget that. Because it is in the hands of the bad guys. “
Red Skins's name is still a hot problem for franchise fans. The franchise is considering building a new stadium on the site of RFK, so the old logo seems to be respected in some way.
