Just five games into the NFL season, the New York Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh on Tuesday.
The Jets lost 23-17 to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday in London, dropping to 2-3 and forcing a change in head coach. Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich has been promoted to interim head coach.
Former NFL sideline reporter Michele Tafoya immediately reacted after the news broke during an appearance on Outkick's “Don't At Me With Dan Dakich.”

“Five games into the season, it's amazing. Look, wow, you're wondering what conversations were going on? Wow, I don't know what to say about that. Yeah, they're” performing. is definitely worse, but so is Aaron Rodgers,” Tafoya said.
Rodgers had three interceptions in Sunday's game against the Jets. This season, Rodgers completed 61% of his passes and averaged 218.6 yards per game, including seven touchdown passes and four interceptions through the first five games.
“Look, you can't fire all the players, so the coach is always the first to go. So maybe they go after the head coach. Maybe they go after the coordinator, but I'm surprised by this. It was a very early season decision.'' Tafoya continued.

Mr. Dakich asked Mr. Tafoya whether he thought Mr. Rodgers had input in the decision to fire Mr. Saleh.
“I know there are some quarterbacks who are very influential in what's going on in the front office, and I think Aaron might be one of them. But I think they get along well. I had the impression, Aaron is very close,' which is a strange thing for New York's offensive coordinator and me,'' Tafoya said.
“But the Jets are looking to turn things around. Obviously, this has been an incredibly disappointing start for the entire team. A lot of people want to blame Aaron, but perhaps this is a way to shift the blame.” I don't think so. I know, this is interesting to me,” Tafoya added.

The Jets have lost their last two games, scoring a combined 26 points in those two games. Through five games this season with Rodgers, the Jets offense has scored as many points as Zach Wilson had in the first five games of last season, with 93 points.
New York's defense ranks second in yards allowed and fifth in points allowed this season. Last season, the Jets were able to win seven games thanks to an elite defense backed by a great offense led by Wilson.
The Jets' next game will be on Monday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills, and despite a tough start to the season, a win would put them in first place in the AFC East.
