The Golden State Warriors selected Carter with the fifth pick in the 1998 NBA Draft, after which he was traded to the Raptors for Antwuan Jamison. Carter quickly became one of the most exciting stars in the NBA, with incredible dunking ability not seen since the days of Dominique Wilkins.
He played five-plus seasons with Toronto, winning Rookie of the Year in 1999 and leading the franchise to its first playoff appearance during his tenure with the team.
The team then made a blockbuster trade with the New Jersey Nets during the 2004-05 season, and Carter became one of the most talked-about players in Nets history, dazzling the Continental Airlines Arena and Izod Center with his spectacular dunks and forming a perfect one-two combination with Jason Kidd.
He played four seasons in East Rutherford before signing with the Orlando Magic.
