The 2025 NFL Draft brought quite a surprise. But the free fall of Chedur Sanders' draft board was perhaps the most surprising development.
The Cleveland Browns finally chose Sanders in the fifth round on Saturday. Shortly after the choice, Sanders took her to social media to share a short but emotional message, “Thank God.” Since then, many people from the sports world and beyond have tried to outline Sanders' decline.
On Tuesday, citing an executive of the unmanned NFL team, a report from the Athletic highlighted the decision Sanders made, which helped Sanders become disillusioned with former Colorado quarterbacks leading up to the NFL draft.

“I think Chedur has approached these visits with the team as job hunting and job search interviews,” a team executive told the outlet.
The same sources suggested athletic that Sanders refused to hire an agent and not represent him in official abilities. Certified and experienced agents may have given Sanders useful insight into the draft process, the report suggests.
It was widely believed that Chedur's father, Pro Football Hall of Fame Deion Sanders, effectively served as an unofficial advisor to the quarterback during the draft process.

Sanders also faced intense scrutiny from another source just before the opening round began last Thursday.

“He's very qualified. He takes unnecessary bags. He doesn't play on time. He has a scary body language. He blames his teammates. But the biggest thing is that he's not that good.”
