The Los Angeles Chargers added a veteran running back in free agency last season, and that trend continues this year.
Former Pittsburgh Steelers first-round pick Najee Harris reportedly agreed to a one-year deal to head to Los Angeles, worth up to $9.5 million, according to multiple reports.
The Chargers have J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards, both with free agent signatures and led the way in the backfield during the 2024 season. They averaged 110.7 yards on the ground (17th in the league) per game, helping to set the tone for the offensive led by Justin Herbert.

Especially with the Dobbins, he spent a comeback season after years of season-ending injuries, rushing for 905 yards on 195 attempts with nine touchdowns.
The Chargers own one of the NFL's best offensive lines, and while Harris has rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of his first four NFL seasons, it seems to be a paper success recipe for manager Jim Harbaugh, a stickler of a good running game.
Justin Fields agrees to a two-year deal with Jet: Report
Despite being the team's first round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and having achieved success in four seasons, the Steelers didn't get a fifth-year option heading into the 2024 campaign.
However, Harris did not hurt his production, rushing for 1,043 yards on 263 carries (4.0 yards per carry) and giving six touchdowns to the ground.

However, Harris' yards per carry are the subject of debate. Because he was rushing for just 3.9 yards in his Steelers career. Pittsburgh appears to want more explosive new blood than Harris, and they also still have a versatile back, Tyler Warren, on the roster.
Harris' move is not only a proof scenario, but one season to be a contract, but he grew up playing in the Bay Area before returning to California and signing with Alabama for college ball.
Harris' time with the Crimson Tide has become one of the best running backs in the 2021 draft class. He also rushed for 1,466 yards with 26 rushing touchdowns during his senior season, solidifying his spot as one of the best rookies to join the NFL at the time.

Throughout four seasons, Harris ran for 4,312 yards for 28 touchdowns, securing 180 catches for 1,149 yards and six more scores.
