Legendary NFL coach Tony Dungy took issue with Vice President Kamala Harris' tweet regarding abortion rights.
Harris has been unapologetic about her stance on women's right to abortion, and continued that stance at the X on Thursday.
“You don't have to give up your faith or what you deeply believe in to agree with this. The government, and certainly Donald Trump, should not be telling women what to do with their bodies,” she said.

Dungy, the first Black head coach in modern times and the second in history to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, is a man of faith and raised questions about Harris.
“To VP Harris: I hear you make this statement all the time,” Dungey said in a quote tweet. “What 'faith' are you talking about when you say I don't have to abandon my faith to support abortion? Are you talking about the Christian faith which teaches that all babies are made in God's image (Genesis 1:26), that God placed them in the womb (Jeremiah 1:5), and that we must not take any life unjustly (Luke 18:20)?”
“Are you talking about that faith, or some vague general 'faith' that we are good enough and smart enough to make our own decisions? What 'faith' are you talking about?”
Harris claims Trump's abortion policy “makes no exceptions,” while Trump says the opposite
Harris has promised that if Congress passes a bill restoring the protections guaranteed by Roe v. Wade, she will “proudly sign it into law” if elected president in November.
Meanwhile, President Trump praised the U.S. Supreme Court for overturning Roe v. Wade and allowing states to address the issue.
Dungy also quoted and reposted a September 17 tweet from former NFL tight end Benjamin Watson, which read, “A young mother in Georgia would be alive today, raising her son and pursuing her dream of attending nursing school. This is exactly what we feared when Roe v. Wade was struck down. In over 20 states, Trump's abortion bans are preventing doctors from providing basic medical care.”

“Amber Thurman's tragic death was caused by complications from legal abortion pills and serious medical malpractice,” Watson responded. “She should have been treated immediately by doctors, but they took too long to act. Georgia's pro-life law is not the problem, as it does not make it a crime to perform a dilation procedure when a fetal heartbeat cannot be detected.”
“Amber deserves to be alive and (Harris) should be calling attention to these facts to prevent the next tragedy, instead of spreading politically motivated falsehoods.”
In response to Dungy's tweet, one commenter wrote, “Coach, your beliefs are great, but how can you support someone like Trump? I've never seen you post anything critical of Trump.”
“Apparently you didn't read my post from last week, when Donald Trump said he was going to vote YES on the 4th Amendment in Florida,” Dungy wrote back.
Trump later clarified his position on the abortion amendment, which would protect access to abortion in the state, saying, “I'm voting no.” In Florida, abortions are not allowed after six weeks of pregnancy, with rare exceptions.
“President Trump has not yet said how he will vote in Florida's referendum, only reiterating that he believes six weeks is too short,” Trump campaign spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said after an interview with NBC News.

Earlier this month, Harris argued that Trump's abortion policy makes no exceptions “even for rape and incest.”
“Victims of disembodied crimes do not have the right to decide what to do with their own bodies. No one should have to abandon their faith or deeply held beliefs to agree that this is immoral and that the government and Donald Trump should not dictate what women do with their bodies,” Harris said.
“Please understand that if Donald Trump is re-elected, he will sign a nationwide abortion ban.”
Shortly before Harris' remarks, Trump said he “strongly” believes in exceptions for abortion.
“I believe there should be exceptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother,” Trump said during the debate. “I believe strongly in that. So did Ronald Reagan. 85 percent of Republicans knew that the exceptions were very important.”
