“What's wrong with the owners of the NFL, are they stupid?” Trump wrote on April 25th. “Deion Sanders is a college football player and has grown even bigger in the NFL. He's a very good coach, streetwise and smart!
At one point in a recent phone interview with Fox News contributor Hugh Hewitt, the president was asked about what motivated him to protect Sanders. Trump said it was a combination of Chedur's father, NFL great Dion Sanders, and the younger quarterback's “genetics.”

“His father is a huge Trump fan and when people are Trump fans, I like it,” Trump told Hewitt. “His father has said great things about me over the years.
“No 2, Genetics. He has good genes for football players. I saw him play for a bit and I thought he was a really talented quarterback. I like his gene pool and I like his talent.

Chedur's brother, Shiro Sanders, also placed importance on Trump's involvement.
“Man, I'm not going to lie. That was the coolest thing I've ever seen, my mate,” he said in “Annual Night with Steiny.” “Pham, if the president tweets, mate, I know something is wrong.”
Shortly after last month's draft was over, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Shiro as an undrafted free agent. The signature prompted a message of gratitude from his Hall of Fame father.

“I'm very grateful. Tampa is a great place,” Dion said in a convulsion. “Coach (Todd) Bowles is a defensive guy. He's great.”
The two Super Bowl winner took it a step further by calling Tampa Bay's general manager Jason Licht.
According to a Joe Bucks fan, “Coach Prime called him on Saturday night and thanked him for giving him a fair shot.”
