Free agent wide receiver Michael Thomas, who spent the past eight seasons with the New Orleans Saints, continues to search for a new NFL home.
If Thomas signs with a team within the next week, he will be ineligible to take the field during opening week of the NFL season after the league determined the two-time All-Pro violated the NFL's personal conduct policy in November.
Thomas was arrested in November 2023 after a confrontation with a construction worker in Kenner, Louisiana, and was subsequently accepted into a pretrial diversion program.

At Kenner, pretrial diversion is essentially six months of probation for first-time offenders, prison spokeswoman Valerie Brolin said in March. In addition to avoiding re-arrest during the program, defendants are also required to take classes, receive treatment and may be required to pay fines.

The construction worker told police that Thomas began yelling at him about parking in front of his house on Nov. 10 and “verbally threatened to harm him.”

Thomas then picked up a brick and threw it at the truck's window, causing “little damage,” the worker told police. Thomas then grabbed the victim's cellphone, shoved him and told him he didn't want to be recorded, police said.

The Saints selected Thomas in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He finished his rookie season with 1,137 yards receiving and nine touchdowns.

He finished each of his first four seasons with at least 1,000 yards receiving, including a league-leading 1,725 yards receiving in 2019 when he was named the NFL's Offensive Player of the Year.
But injuries have plagued Thomas' last four seasons: He missed the entire 2021 season with an ankle injury and played in just 20 games from 2020-2023.
