Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, who will be able to join the trade block this NFL offseason, is reportedly looking to be paid more towards his 17th season.
During “Good Morning Football” on Monday morning, NFL Network's Peter Schrager reported that the Rams and Stafford had a “great relationship.”
But he wants to pay more – among the league's top quarterbacks to be precise.

“This is nothing personally,” Schlager said of Stafford and the Rams. “It's a money matter. Matthew Stafford wants to be paid for what he thinks is worth. He wants to be paid more than $50 million.”
The Rams granted Stafford permission to discuss contracts with other teams this offseason despite having been signed for two more seasons before being set for free agency.
According to Sports Illustrated, teams of quarterbacks like The New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers have contacted Stafford.

Schrager adds that the team is willing to pay more Stafford than Rams would be willing to offer him.
For the 2025 season, Stafford had a cap hit of $49.67 million per SpotRac, which would be $53.67 million in 2026.
The Giants are an interesting team when it comes to Stafford's trading as they own the third overall pick in this year's NFL Draft. However, Schrager said the Giants will never remove Stafford's pick, but the second pick could possibly be involved.
As for the Steelers, they were the playoff teams that Justin Fields and Russell Wilson played under center last season. Maybe Pittsburgh will be willing to pay a big deal to a quarterback in Super Bowl pedigree to play a playoff run since 2016 when he lost the AFC Championship.

The Browns have Desshaun Watson on signing, but their quarterback situation is heading for 2025 after retiring Achilles during rehabilitation. Finally, now under the leadership of legendary coach Pete Carroll, the Raiders are rebuilding teams that can be used, with more senior leaders in the locker room, and Stafford certainly fits the bill.
But, as Schrager said, the Rams and Stafford don't have a spoiled relationship. Perhaps they can solve something.
If $50 million is Stafford's starting point, only nine other quarterbacks in the NFL are planning to create it in 2025. Dallas Cowboys' Duck Prescott tops the list of $60 million per season.
The only quarterback on that list with a Super Bowl ring like Stafford exceeded $50 million was Jalen Hearts of the Philadelphia Eagles, who won his first Lombardi Trophy in the Super Bowl Ricks.

And while it all continues at Stafford, the Rams also revealed that one of his quarterback's most reliable targets, veteran wide receiver Cooppacup, is in the trade block. He is not expected to attend training camp with Los Angeles, but rather a different team when the desired trade package is presented.
The Rams have young star Puka Nakua. He developed strong chemistry with Stafford in just two seasons on the roster. However, Demarcus Robinson, who was WR3, is an unlimited free agent, similar to the team's second pick in 2021, Tutu Atwell.
