Footage of an awkward moment between Nick Saban and Pat McAfee on the set of ESPN's “College GameDay” was released Saturday.
The video, apparently recorded on a cellphone, shows Mr. McAfee dancing in his seat and snapping his fingers as music blared, while Mr. Saban sat motionless in his seat with his hands clasped together and made awkward glances at his colleague.
Saban repeatedly smacked his lips and occasionally looked down or away while McAfee danced just inches away.

“Saban looks like he's chauffeuring Pat at the club while he drinks too many tequila sunrises or vodka cranberries,” one X user wrote in response.

Both were criticized for their attitude.
One user wrote, “Saban is not a fit for College GameDay. He's a Debbie Downer. Too dry. Too serious for Saturday morning!”

“The guy on the left needs to grow up a bit,” another user wrote.
The two hosts have taken very different paths to becoming hosts of the show. Saban, who will be appearing on the show for the first time for a full season this year, became one of the most successful head coaches in college football history, leading the University of Alabama for 17 years from 2007 to 2023. He led the Crimson Tide to six national titles and Louisiana State University to a seventh in 2003.

Saban announced his retirement in January. On February 7, he was hired as a commentator for ESPN's “College GameDay.”

McAfee's football career dates back to his time as the punter for the Indianapolis Colts from 2009 to 2016. He was an All-Pro selection in 2014.
McAfee became the full-time host of “College GameDay” in 2022. McAfee launched his own podcast, “The Pat McAfee Show,” which premiered on September 9, 2019. His show aired on Westwood One, Barstool Sports, and SiriusXM before moving to ESPN in September 2022.

McAfee's ESPN show has been marked by a number of explicit and controversial moments, including his berating of WNBA rookie star Kaitlyn Clark, and McAfee canceled NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers' weekly appearance on ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel after Rodgers suggested Rodgers might be on a list of Jeffrey Epstein's associates.
Saban and McAfee will now play together as classmates every Saturday during the college football season.
