The first half against unranked USC didn't go very well for fourth-ranked Penn State, but the Nittany Lions started the second half strong.
The Nittany Lions went deep into the playbook and scored a wild touchdown.
Penn State was at USC's 32-yard line when backup quarterback Beau Pribula took the snap from tight end Tyler Warren. Yes, the tight end broke the ball.

To complicate matters further, quarterback Drew Allard lined up wide and five offensive linemen were to Warren's right at the line of scrimmage.
The Lions appeared to be in a normal football formation until everyone started moving around. Out of nowhere, Warren snapped the ball with no lineman on his left.
So Warren passed to Pribula, who threw a back pass to Aller on the left. Then Warren (remember, he hiked the ball) ran straight and Aller hit him in the end zone for a wild touchdown catch.
The broadcast team said it looked like a “flag football” play.

Warren also played games at quarterback and running back, making the job a little more fun for offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki.
Penn State headed to the locker room at halftime with a 20-6 lead, but a trick play regained momentum and the game was tied at 20 at press time.

This is the highest Penn State has been ranked by the Associated Press since entering Week 6 of the 2021 season at No. 4. USC received a rude welcome to the Big Ten, losing road games to Michigan State and Minnesota.
But if USC can fight back, it would be the program's biggest win in a while.
