Amid a national controversy over transgender athletes on cross country teams, a school board meeting Thursday night devolved into a parade of hysterical abuse between concerned parents and transgender activists.
Riverside Unified School District (RUSD) is addressing concerns that student-athletes at Martin Luther King High School and students wearing shirts that read “Save Girls' Sports” are being punished. A board meeting was held at the school office.
The meeting came after weeks of preparation, as hundreds of students from Martin Luther King High School and other schools in the district wore T-shirts against the school's wishes. Hundreds of students rallied to wear the T-shirts every Wednesday, and many were detained for wearing them until the school gave up on disciplining students the week of December 11th. .
Ahead of the meeting, competing protests between transgender advocates and Save Girls Sports activists gathered in front of the RUSD district office.
As the meeting began, speakers were asked to share their thoughts on the situation. Many of the parents who spoke out against the district's decision to allow transgender athletes to compete against girls came wearing T-shirts themselves.

One of the first parents to speak out against the district's inclusion of transgender students was a mother identified only by her first name, Sandy R. The mother complained hysterically that her name had been exposed to pro-trans activists outside the rally. She said she feared being “accused” because of her position and planned to file a harassment complaint.
Sandy then accused the entire board of violating Title IX by upholding California law.
Another parent pointed out that the district's science curriculum even includes a textbook that teaches about the genetic differences between biological males and females. Her mother brought out her ninth-grade biology textbook and read a passage that explained that men are born with XY chromosomes and women are born with XX chromosomes.
She also held up photos of students who were punished for wearing shirts that read “XX (Not Equal to) XY.”
“This is what I did to the students wearing the shirt I'm wearing tonight for asserting a biological fact that's in the textbook. It's part of the curriculum. Next up is tape on the textbook. Are you going to do that? What are you going to do with it?’ Maybe we’re not going to teach science? ” she exclaimed. “You're denying biological facts to avoid hurting someone's feelings, and that's not right!”
The mother also cited a recent lawsuit filed by two female cross-country runners at the school, alleging that the school compared their T-shirts to swastikas.
Another mother, identified only as Colleen, was already screaming before she even approached the podium, criticizing the board for allowing pro-trans activists in the office to cheer on pro-trans sentiment. , likened it to their response to pro-trans young men. I would like to move into women's sports to be more competitive.
“Your job is to teach these people self-control, and you're not doing any of that!” she yelled. “It's all about their self-esteem and you're setting them up to fail! They're not going to entrust the world to them. The world isn't going to adapt because they're like, 'I'm going to be successful in this sport.' Now I'm going to join this sport because I can do better there! Teach these kids self-control before it's too late!
A mother named Maria Carrillo then began giving a speech warning all children in the room to leave. She then reinforced her point by reciting sexually explicit passages from school-approved books available at RUSD middle schools, before labeling the parents involved as “agitators and MAGA vandals.” blamed the school.
“We are here as parents caring for our children, and we are using our constitutional rights to talk about our children's issues with you, the leaders of our community,” she said. “I want to know why the teachers union is sending us emails calling us cruel.”
Speaking in Spanish with the help of an English interpreter, the mother, named Patti Crowda, said that she had no idea what to do with men and women, before expressing her fear that the female students would have to share locker rooms with biological men. The attack began by ridiculing the Board of Education for not understanding the difference between the two. .
“You change in front of men!” she said through an interpreter.

At the end of the rant, Clodagh abandoned the use of an interpreter and yelled and screamed in English directly to the board.
“What I'm actually more concerned about is that there's an actual biological woman standing in front of me, and you're not defending the young women of this school district. Shame on you for allowing these young women to be abused, harassed, and discriminated against! You are creating a hostile environment for these children to receive an education. “It's the right thing to do!” cried Crowder.
Concerned parents called for Superintendent Renee Hill's resignation in separate speeches.
At one point, a female student-athlete had the opportunity to speak and became emotional as she expressed the fact that, as a biological female, she had no realistic chance of competing against biological males.
“In no world will the most devoted woman beat the most devoted man,” she said, her voice breaking.
But transgender advocates were also given a chance to speak. Several speakers who expressed support for transgender participation thanked the board for allowing transgender athletes to compete with female athletes and urged the board to continue to enable and protect transgender athletes. encouraged.
One trans activist event went so far as to falsely claim that XY chromosomes are disappearing from the human gene pool and that eventually all humans will be born with XX chromosomes.
Many of the pro-trans speeches were met with shrill cheers and attendees waved LGBTQ pride flags.
California has enacted a law protecting transgender athletes in women's sports since 2014. That same year, AB 1266 went into effect, giving California's academic and college-level students “the right to participate in single-sex school programs and activities (such as sports teams and sports teams).” Competing in competitions and using facilities consistent with the student's gender identity, regardless of the gender listed on the student's record. ”
