Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes told reporters on Wednesday that he won't endorse any candidate in the upcoming election as he is focused on leading the Kansas City Chiefs to three straight Super Bowl titles, something no NFL team has ever accomplished.
Mahomes' assignment comes during an election year when he is surrounded by opposing political forces in his personal life.
Mahomes' wife, Brittany Mahomes, received public praise from former President Trump during an interview with Fox News on Wednesday. After Taylor Swift, the girlfriend of Mahomes' longtime teammate and close friend Travis Kelce, announced her support for Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday night, Trump said he “likes” Brittany Mahomes more than Swift.
“The truth is, I like Mrs. Mahomes a lot more. She's a big Trump fan,” Trump said on “Fox & Friends.” “I like Brittany. I think Brittany is great.”

As the Chiefs prepare to face the Cincinnati Bengals, Patrick Mahomes was asked about the former president's comments during a press conference on Wednesday.
“You see Brittany doing a lot in the community,” said the QB, 28. “I do a lot in the community to build people up and give them a voice.”
“In a political situation, people are going to take advantage of things here and there, but I can't allow that to affect how I go about my day to day work and my efforts to perform to the best of my ability.”

Brittany has been at the center of a fierce online debate between fans and critics in recent weeks after she “liked” President Trump's 2024 policy platform on Instagram on August 13. After a photo of the “like” went viral on social media channels and sparked intense backlash, the expectant mother took to the stage to defend herself and her beliefs.
She then “liked” a comment on her Instagram post that read, “Trump Vance 2024.”
Taylor Swift's online fan page has been responsible for several instances of Brittany's “likes” going viral. Swift has supported Democratic candidates dating back to 2018, and supported Democratic candidates Phil Bredesen and Jim Cooper in the 2018 Tennessee midterm elections in the United States.
She later endorsed Joe Biden for president in 2020, but Tuesday's endorsement of Harris will likely carry more weight. It marks her first presidential endorsement since her popularity soared following her public relationship with Ella Tour and Kelsey.
Swift and Kelsey's relationship has resulted in some very public moments, including one between the pop star and Brittany during a Chiefs game.

Patrick, Brittany, Swift and Kelsey attended the US Open men's singles final in New York on Sunday. The Chiefs won their opening match on Thursday, and they were able to watch Italy's Jannik Sinner defeat American Taylor Fritz in an upscale area of Arthur Ashe Stadium. Brittany and Swift were seen hugging and chatting throughout the match.
Their U.S. Open appearance came just days after Swift and Brittany sat in separate suites at Arrowhead Stadium. They've been seen together since Swift started going to games after going public with her relationship with Kelce last year. Seeing the two together in broadcast cutaways became a staple of Chiefs games last season, but they weren't there during last week's season opener as the Chiefs celebrated their third Super Bowl of the Mahomes-Kelce era.

Swift's public endorsement of Harris has raised questions among fans and voters about whether Kelsey will also endorse the candidate.
In March, Kelsey told the Los Angeles Times that she and Swift, 33, shared the same values since they began dating a few months ago.
“I think it's the values that we stand for and who we are,” Kelsey replied when asked why she thinks people are so fascinated with their relationship. “We both love shining a light on other people, shining a light on the people that help and support us. Plus, I feel like we both love life.”

Patrick and Brittany have a different love story.
Brittany and Patrick were born and raised in East Texas and began dating while attending Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, Texas, a town of about 8,500 people with a history of voting Republican, according to Data USA. The couple married in March 2022 and have two children together, 3-year-old daughter Sterling Skye and 1-year-old son Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III.
Shortly after the investigation began over Brittany's liking of Trump's Instagram post, Patrick celebrated her birthday on August 31.
During a recent episode of the “Whoop” podcast, Brittany said she's been relying on her three-time Super Bowl winning quarterback husband to help her get through the recent public scrutiny.
“Having him there to help me was really helpful because he's great at managing that stuff and blocking people out and all that kind of stuff,” she said. “Having him there to guide me and coach me was really helpful and I think that's what has led to our relationship now.”
“I think something my dad always told me was, 'Don't worry about what people think, especially people who don't know you,'” she says. “So social media used to bother me a lot, but now I honestly don't care what people say about me anymore.”

Brittany hinted that she and Patrick might not see eye to eye on some issues in an Instagram Story on August 26. “Contrary to the vibe of the world today, you can still love someone even if you don't agree with them. You can still be kind even when you disagree,” she wrote.
Patrick has never publicly endorsed any politician or party, telling Time magazine in April that he wouldn't say who he'd be voting for in the next election, and he stuck to that belief on Wednesday.
“I don't want my position or my platform to be used anyway to endorse any candidate or anything like that,” Mahomes reiterated. “I feel like my role is to let people know to register to vote. To let people know to do their research and make the best decision for themselves and their family.”
