There's no doubt that Travis Kelce is Patrick Mahomes' favorite target.
Over the past few seasons, the tight end-quarterback duo has been one of the most productive in the NFL, with Kelce recording more than 1,000 yards receiving every season from 2016 to 2022. Mahomes was drafted in 2017 and became a full-time starter in 2018.
But Kelce's production in the first few games of the 2024 season has been the talk of the sports world, with the star tight end recording 69 total yards receiving through Week 4.

Kelsey recently spoke about his slow start and said winning games is his top priority.
“I've made a lot of catches in this league,” Kelce said on the latest episode of the “New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce” podcast. “I don't care about catches or yards or anything like that. I'm most happy when the ball is thrown my way. Who doesn't? But it's all about execution and the confidence that I'm going to do whatever I can to win football games. That's always the goal.”

On Wednesday, Mahomes offered his thoughts on Kelce's performance so far.
“I felt like giving him the ball more, but he was like, 'I just want to win. I don't care. I'm just going to run this route and get guys with me so other guys can get open,'” the quarterback told reporters.

“We know he's a big part of this offense and we want to continue to use him, but at the same time, if the defense is going to try to stop him, we're going to give the ball to some other guys and let them make plays. As the season goes on, if we continue to throw the ball to Rache and some other guys and they continue to show that they're going to make plays, teams are going to have to go one-on-one and that's where Travis is going to get eaten.”
Ruthie Rice's second NFL season is off to a strong start, with the former SMU star recording two touchdown receptions and 288 receiving yards so far this year.
Mahomes also praised Kelce's leadership and his determination to do whatever it takes to help the Chiefs win every week.

“When we're winning, he just goes out there and plays hard, blocks and does whatever he can to impact the game,” Mahomes said.
“When you're winning these games, everybody's winning. At the end of the day, you just want to win. He's done a great job as a leader on this team, playing hard and doing whatever he can to make an impact in the game. When you do that in this league, good things usually happen. I'm excited to see him step out there and make an impact when he receives the ball.”

The Chiefs' offense was largely mediocre throughout the 2023 season as the team dealt with issues with its wide receiver group, but Kelce's production increased once the playoffs began. He finished the AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens with 116 yards receiving.
Kelce also has a win over the Chiefs' next opponent, the Los Angeles Chargers, in his career so far.
