New England's Jaylin Hawkins and Marcus Jones each recovered a Cincinnati fumble.
“As a coach, winning is a big thing, but it's not just about me, it's about the players,” Mayo said, via the team's website. “I can't say enough about my players.”
Patriots team owner Robert Kraft presented Mayo with a game ball after Mayo replaced legendary Bill Belichick as head coach and earned his first career win.
“I'm so proud of our new players, our new coaching staff. Everybody was making excuses that it couldn't happen,” Kraft said, “but they made it happen and I was spoiled.”
