New England Patriots veteran safety Jabrill Peppers was arrested Saturday in Braintree, Massachusetts on charges including strangulation and drug possession.
Police announced Monday that Peppers was arrested after they responded to a home address early Saturday morning after someone reported a disturbance.
Peppers, the Patriots' team captain, will be charged with “assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, strangulation, and possession of a Class B substance believed to be cocaine,” the release said. are.

Mr. Peppers is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Quincy District Court, Massachusetts.
The victim of the alleged altercation was treated at the scene.

The Patriots released a statement to multiple media members on Monday regarding Peppers' arrest.
“We are aware of an incident involving Jabrill Peppers over the weekend, which is currently being investigated by police. We have no further comment at this time,” the statement said.
Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo also commented on the situation during an appearance on WEEI 93.7 FM, saying that Peppers “called me that morning.”

“I knew what was going on,” Mayo added, according to the Boston Herald. “And to the NFL, we're reporting to the NFL what's going on and we're still gathering information.”
Mayo was asked if Peppers would stay with the team, and the first-year head coach said, “I don't think anyone knows the facts. I mean, it's a process.”
Peppers did not play in Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins, and the Patriots lost 15-10 at home.
He has been limited in practice with a shoulder injury, and the team ruled him out Saturday, though it's unclear whether it was due to the shoulder injury or the arrest.
