The 20-year-old man “wakes up and is on alert” after falling against a wall and crashing into a field at Pittsburgh's PNC Park, according to the GoFundme page, which raises funds for his medical expenses.
Former college football player Kaban Markwood was identified as the man who fell more than 20 feet into a warning track on the right field.
Markwood tipped the wall railing over and fell onto the field in a game between the Pirates and the Chicago Cubs.

GoFundMe was created earlier this week, and its organizers provided a positive update for Markwood.
“We are very relieved and grateful to be able to share the encouraging news about our bag. This morning, our bags are able to wake up, beware and speak,” writes Jennifer Phillips. “After everything he has experienced since the accident on Wednesday night, this progress is nothing but a miracle.
“He still has a long way ahead of him, but today has brought us a moment of hope that we are all working hard on. We appreciate your prayers, support and generosity.
Play quickly stopped as medical staff sprinted into the outfield and found a shirtless Markwood visible on his face, above the dirt on the warning truck. Trainers from both teams joined EMS and placed him in the cart and removed him from the field.

Pirates star Andrew McCutchen hit a two-run double that brought the team to 4-3 at the bottom of the innings.
The game was paused for about 10 minutes as medical personnel arrived. Fans were placed on the backboard, loaded into medical carts, and transported the stadium to the hospital.
In a graphic video posted to social media, fans rolled over the railing and dropped about 20 feet to the ground. On the TV broadcast, McCutchen stood on his base, his hands on his head in clear shock. Cubs players went down on their knees while fans were being inspected.
Markwood played in two Division II football programs, Walsh University and Wheeling University. According to the team's website, he played for Wheeling in 2023 and appeared in four games.

“I really hate what happened tonight,” McCutchen wrote on social media. “Thinking about that guy, his family, or his friends won't help you. Pray for him tonight. Think of his loved ones, and hold your family a little tighter tonight. I hope he will pull.
