Members of the Roanoke College women's swim team who last year spoke out against transgender athletes trying to join the team were invited to the stage at Donald Trump's rally in Salem, Virginia, on Saturday.
The team wore shirts that read, “Keep (hot dogs) out of women's sports.”
Before bringing them to the stage, President Trump explained the story behind how former members of the school's boys swim team tried to join the girls' team last year.

“The gender insanity of the radical left arrived here in Salem last year when men were allowed to transfer to Roanoke College's women's swim team,” President Trump said. “I just met them backstage. They are amazing swimmers. … It was new in this country for brave members of the swim team to stand up to transgender fanatics.”
After Mr. Trump's introduction, team captain Lily Mullens spoke.
“Thank you so much, President Trump. As female athletes in particular, we know that men have an inherent advantage over women in sports. But with current policies, men are given an advantage in all sports at all ages. of women,” Mullens said. .
“Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have supported and promoted the continuation of this anti-women, sexism across this country, and it is completely unfair.
“So I want to thank President Trump for standing by women and promising to protect the rights of all of us. Donald Trump, a common sense man who knows what strong women look like. We are so lucky to have a leader like Trump, who is and will continue to fight for generations of girls. ”
At the rally, President Trump “promised to keep men out of women's sports.”

Days after the player withdrew his request to join the team last year, team members defended their position at a press conference.
“The situation we're seeing at Roanoke College is pretty much the same situation that my teammates and competitors experienced with Leah Thomas,” Riley Gaines said at the time. “The difference is that they found their voices much faster by coming together. This shows that the tide is starting to turn. Courage is contagious and there is strength in numbers. I'm so proud of them and for them and so grateful.'' Fight for common sense.'' ”
Trump's appearance on stage came just hours after Blair Fleming, a transgender member of the San Jose State women's volleyball team, played against the University of New Mexico. Five schools lost games against SJSU because Fleming was on the team.
