President-elect Trump on Sunday nominated Harmeet K. Dhillon to be the Justice Department's assistant attorney general for civil rights.
President Trump has said Dillon has taken on Big Tech companies that censor free speech, represented Christians who were not allowed to pray together during the coronavirus pandemic, and discriminated against their employees. He said that he has consistently defended civil liberties throughout his career, including suing companies that adopted wake-up policies. .
“Harmeet is one of the top election lawyers in the country, working to ensure that every and only legal vote is counted,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “She is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the University of Virginia School of Law, and serves as a clerk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.”
“Harmeet is a respected member of the Sikh religious community,” he added. “In his new role at the Department of Justice, Mr. Harmeet will be a tireless defender of constitutional rights and will fairly and decisively enforce civil rights and election laws.”

In another post, Trump also wrote that Mark Paoletta will return as general counsel for the Office of Management and Budget.
In this role, Trump said, Paoletta will work closely with the Department of Government Efficiency to reduce the size of the “bloated government bureaucracy” and root out wasteful and un-American spending.
President Trump described Paoletta as a brilliant and tenacious lawyer and credited him with helping advance his policies during his first term, leading the effort to raise money for a wall on the southern border.

Mark is a partner at the law firm Shaerr Jaffe LLP and a senior fellow at the Center for Renewing America.
“Mark served as Congress' Chief Oversight and Investigations Counsel for 10 years, and in 1991 was the lead counsel in the White House Counsel's office confirming Justice Clarence Thomas to the U.S. Supreme Court,” Trump wrote. “Mark is a conservative warrior who knows the 'inside and out' of government. He will help us and make America great again!”
