San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy received high praise from former President Trump.
President Trump sparked the conversation about Purdy last week when he gave an interview on Barstool Sports' “Bussin' With The Boys” during Thursday night's game between the 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks.
“(Purdy) is a great story. He's like the last guy drafted and they just put him in and got the team going. He's really good,” Trump said.

Purdy was selected by Iowa State with the 262nd overall pick and the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Purdy won the third-string quarterback spot in 2022 training camp over veteran Nate Sudfeld.
“Was he Mr. Irrelevant? He's not irrelevant anymore,” Trump said.
“(Purdy) is no longer irrelevant, but he's just a great quarterback and it shows there's some luck in sports. And really, everybody in front of him has to get hurt. If he had, he wouldn't have played. They put him in, they moved the ball right, and it was over, and it's happened before with Tom Brady,” Trump said.
Trey Lance was named the starter over Jimmy Garoppolo for the 2022 season, but Lance was injured in Week 2 and did not return for the season.

Garoppolo filled in for Lance, but was injured in Week 13 against the Miami Dolphins. Purdy came on in relief of Garoppolo and hasn't given up his spot as the starting quarterback since.
Purdy finished the 2022 regular season 5-0, had 13 touchdowns and four interceptions in his first five starts, and led the 49ers to two playoff wins in his rookie season.
Last season, Purdy entered training camp as a starter for the first time and improved. Purdy went 12-4 as a starter and led the 49ers to the No. 1 seed in the NFC. His play earned him MVP votes as he threw for 4,280 yards, 31 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions.

Purdy led the 49ers to the Super Bowl, but they ultimately lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.
The 49ers got off to a slow start this season, finishing with 3 wins and 3 losses. Purdy has thrown for 1,629 yards, nine touchdowns and four interceptions.
The 49ers' next game will be a Super Bowl rematch against the Chiefs on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
