President-elect Trump announced that one of his lawyers, William Owen Scharf, will serve as his chief of staff and chief of staff in the next administration.
“I am pleased to announce that William Owen Scharf will serve as Chief of Staff and White House Chief of Staff,” President Trump's statement read. “Will is a highly accomplished attorney and will be an important part of my White House team.”
The Republican leader said Schaaf, a former federal prosecutor, “played a key role in defeating the election interference and legal actions against me, including winning a historic immunity verdict in the Supreme Court.” ” he added.
President Trump added, “Will make us proud as we make America great again.”

Mr. Scharf earned a bachelor's degree from Princeton University, a law degree from Harvard University, and clerked for two federal appeals court judges.
The former prosecutor was also employed by conservative public relations firm CRC Advisors and once worked for Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens. Scharf also worked as an assistant U.S. attorney in St. Louis.

The attorney recently ran for Missouri attorney general, but lost in the Republican primary to incumbent Andrew Bailey. Bailey defeated Democrat Elad Gross in early November.
President Trump posted about Schaaf's appointment on Saturday night, just before announcing his pick for Energy Secretary Chris Wright.
