On her first date with Clark Daniel Adams, Carrie Kelly Same intentionally wore a shiny bracelet. “It was a truly rare studded silver bracelet I bought at a bazaar in Oman,” she said.
“It sounds stupid,” she added. “But I swear that many men are drawn to shiny things.”
What she didn't intend was to lose it.
Adams and Same matched on the league's dating app in May 2017. After they sent messages to each other, he proposed his first date at the library bar at the Nomad Hotel, known as Ned Nomad, in the Manhattan nomad neighborhood.
“He didn't know it was one of my favorites,” Same said.
“I remember her walking through the door that looked like a picture of her. It's always a plus whenever I meet people online,” he said. “She was dressed for the Nines.”
“He looked very handsome,” she said. “He had this James Bond look, and he had this really warm smile. I was worried that he might be bored. But he was immediately interesting. He has this very dry wit.”
It was clear that there was a connection from the beginning.
Same thanked Adams for asking her questions “it doesn't always happen.” “He's really interested in women's ideas and ideas and likes interesting and strong women.”
The ease of conversation also struck Mr. Adams. “We were able to talk easily and effortlessly about various subjects for two hours,” he said.
At the end of the evening, as Mr. Adams was walking Ms. Same from the restaurant, she realized that the shiny bracelet she was wearing (which he unfortunately didn't notice).
When she told Mr. Adams it was missing, he “rawed under the table and found it,” she said.
The two recorded several more dates in the early summer months of 2017 on the day they were allowed to schedule work and travel. But they “continued to maintain a completely text message relationship,” Same said.
Three months after the date, their relationship was in turn. “We were four or five dates and everything seemed to be on track,” Same said. She then received a text from him in mid-August. He said he was dealing with some family issues and he couldn't date anyone. “I was really shocked and disappointed,” she said, but added that she wanted him a lot.

In October, SEIM was planning a charity auction event for the NYC Autism Charter School. “We needed a big guest list to raise as much money as possible for the school,” she said.
On a whim, she invited several men she had dated. Adams was the only one who came to the event, and Same said it was “absolutely dizzy” to meet him.
“I was in a better place,” Adams said. “She was so kind and spent the whole night with me. Plus, I accidentally won a lot of auction items.”
One of his prize money was two tickets to watch the musical “Hello, Dolly!” On Broadway. “I told him I didn't feel bad because he spent so much on the auction,” she said. “He told him that he could make up for it by being his date on the show.”
She wasn't sure if he was just inviting him to be polite. However, after being in the theater in mid-October 2017, he reached out and held her hand.
By January, Adams asked Same to be his girlfriend, and the following month he introduced her to his two sons at his home in Darien, Connecticut. She met his daughter, who was in college a few months later.
Adams' first wife, Lisa Boncheck Adams, passed away in 2015 of metastasis cancer. She wrote extensively about her medical journey. He has three children from that marriage. Page, 26, Colin, 23, Tristan (18).
The couple lives in both Adams' home in Connecticut and Saim's apartment in Manhattan's Stuyvesant town development.
They got engaged in June 2023 when Adams was in Los Angeles and visited Same, who was there for a meeting about the TV adaptation of “The Horse Girl.” Ms. Same arranged dinner for them with her friends and fi to celebrate her engagement to actually make a reservation in Nobu Malibu.
“It was impossible to get a table there,” she said.
Same completed the trick by sliding the costume ring into her left finger. He seemed upset when Mr. Adams noticed the ring, she said, and their friends were in Mr. Adams' secret plan to propose, but they couldn't help but laugh at the situation.
Overlooking the ocean view, one of their friends asked Same if they could see the ring, and Adams asked him to take a picture of him with his friend.
He suggested, as if they had posed. “All I can remember is that he says, 'You love my children like you are,'” Same said.
On February 15th, Brian Clark, the couple's best friend appointed to Universal Life Church for the event, served an outdoor wedding with 101 guests attending at Palms Hotel & Spa in Miami Beach. The wedding party included three children, Same's sister, Lindsay Same and Adams.
The bride wore three dresses. A swan from beauty couture for the ceremony. A used white flapper dress with heavy beads and feather trim by Nadine Merabi for the first dance. Mini dress by Nicole + Felicia for after-party.
“I came from the background of sketch comedy,” said Same, a graduate of the Groundlings Sunday Company in Los Angeles.
The groom wore a Michael Andrews made-to-order tuxedo along with a white dinner jacket and a vintage Chanel cuff link.
“I have a large family and we were together in one place for the first time in many years,” Adams said. “I can't imagine it being easy, but from the beginning Carrie has always been a perfect fit for my wild crew.”

Last March, Ms. Same's mother, Sharon Same, suffered a stroke last year, “we were given only 10% chance of survival,” said Same, who spent several months in Florida. “When my mother was in coma and was in the vent and feeding tube, they placed a 'recovery goal' in her room,” Same said. “My sister wrote, “I'm going to Carrie's wedding.” ”
Not only did Same's mother reach the wedding, but Same walked the aisle with her father, Donald Same, but the bride added, “My mother, who had only been able to walk alone for a few months, began digging ditches on the dance floor with me, my father and sister.”
I'm going to laugh. I could feel the crowd breathing as I went down the solo on the stairs. “So I fake off the wobble of the off-kilter and got a lot of laughs.
Love is the puzzle of Mr. Adam's older son, Colin. I'm designing a crossword puzzle with some for the New York Times. “He created a huge custom crossword with clues about us so our guests could resolve during cocktail hours,” Same said.
The guest list included all kinds of things. As the host shared at the ceremony, attendees were told, “women, financier, actor, writer, doctor, nurse, lawyer, director, teacher, student, volunteer, entrepreneur, musician, crossword puzzle constructor, beekeeper, and more, humans were told, “Find each other during cocktail hour.”
