Tyler O'Neill's name has become synonymous with MLB's opening day home run.
The outfielder hit a three-run homer during his Baltimore Orioles debut on Thursday. O'Neill extended his Major League record with Holling on the opening day of the sixth consecutive year. O'Neill achieved the feat in three innings in his home country of Canada as the Toronto Blue Jays hosted the Orioles at the Rodgers Center.
O'Neill's Homer drove with his teammates Colton Cowser and Adrie Latchman. The blockbuster also led the Blue Jays 4-0 against the Orioles.

“When he hit it, it was just such an amazing feat, so I think everyone was just hooked,” Latchman said. “It was very cool to watch.”
O'Neill had three hits and two walks in five appearances on the plate. The left fielder recorded three runs and said it would make sense to give a strong performance in front of family and friends.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde called O'Neill's opening day streak “heart-gripping,” adding that he quickly learned to understand everything his new outfielder brings to the clubhouse.
“Amazing personality,” Hyde said of O'Neill. “I love how hard nose he is. He's a guy on the team.”
O'Neill's opening day home run streak began in 2020 in St. Louis and continued for four seasons, matching the marks held by Todd Handley (1994-97), Gary Carter (1977-80), and Yogibella (1955-58).

O'Neill arrived at the stadium on Thursday, carrying two boxes of donuts from the popular Canadian chain Tim Hortons, and sharing them with his Baltimore teammates. He did the same thing when he visited Toronto with the Red Sox last season.

Hyde said there would be no problem with O'Neill repeating donut delivery on Friday.
“What's not working,” Hyde said. “Please wear the same clothes. No matter what he does today, do it tomorrow.”
The Orioles eventually opened the 2025 season and cruised the Blue Jays for a 12-2 lead. Charlie Morton will win the Baltimore pitching mound for Game 2 of the 4 Game Series on Friday night. Kevin Gausman starts with Blue Jays.
