Republicans are gearing up for a trifecta in Congress next year, with a focus on legislation that would ban transgender medical treatment of minors.
In a Senate committee Wednesday afternoon, the lawmakers discussed banning biological male participation in women's sports, restricting gender-related surgeries on minors, and providing taxpayer funding for these types of surgeries on children. They discussed the future of legislative measures in Congress, such as suspending the and expand parental consent requirements.
The discussion was hosted by Sen. Roger Marshall, Republican of Kansas, and led by Terry Schilling, president of the American Principles Project (APP). Schilling shared her experience competing alongside Alabama Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville, Illinois Republican Rep. “Here, today, we protect young women and men from genital mutilation because this is what it is,” Marshall said during the panel discussion. “It is hard to believe that we are causing irreparable damage to these young children.”

“I can't believe we have to do this,” Tuberville added. “This is utter insanity and is causing irreparable damage to children. This is not a question of politicians, it is a question of good and evil.”
“Title IX is the best thing to come out of this building in 50 years,” said Tuberville, the former coach. “It is not a right for biological males to play women's sports.”
Scanlan told the panel about her experience competing alongside a biological male on the University of Pennsylvania's swim team, saying she had to change clothes in the locker room with Thomas “18 times a week.”

Marshall said Congress plans to introduce the Comprehensive Protection of Minors Act (STOP), which aims to “punish those who perform surgery or mediation on minors.”
