Marshall is expected to introduce the bill in Congress on Wednesday, saying, “The days of dementia doctors and activists making money off the mutilation, spaying and neutering of children are over.”
If passed, the STOP Act would require Health and Human Services (HHS) to impose civil penalties of at least $100,000 on anyone who “provides transgender mutilation services or treatment” to a minor. . Marshall spoke during a panel discussion led by Terry Schilling, president of the American Principles Project, and a group of lawmakers who discussed growing Republican interest in legislation that would ban transgender medical treatment of minors. This was the first time I mentioned this bill.

Lawmakers on the other side of the issue have voiced support for treatments for minors, such as hormone replacement therapy and laser hair removal. Most recently, they pushed back a ban in Tennessee that prohibited minors from receiving puberty blockers.

In September, 164 members of Congress, including 11 senators and 153 representatives, filed a court brief defending transgender youth against the ban.
The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments on the law on Wednesday and decide whether to uphold the ban.
