He is not wrong: “L'Amant Anonyme” is a romantic comedy about secret prestige along the line of the “Bent Horn”, as easy and forgetful as the “Bridgerton” episode. It's easy, just like ARIAS, easy and unforgettable, through the active 90 minutes. The plot nods the difference in the class without making anything meaningful. The friction will be too large for an opera who does not seem to aim for more than an entertainment.
Opera filadelphia's staging, a joint production with Boston Lyric Opera, is greatly leaned to the comedy. The dialogue called “anonymous lover” was adapted to English by the playwright Kirsten Green Digge. (Arias remains in French as inconvenient.)
In the afternoon orchestra pit on Sunday, the curryna beaven led a comfortable explanation of the score, as if it were an expansion dance, rather than a story separated by music numbers. It is appropriate for a story that will be developed as a single gesture after a few years of gifts and letters. Léontine wanted to say, “You have an email,” like Meglian in the “Bent Horn”. They become together and happy.
Secondary characters also assemble a couple. Bariton Johnesan McCurrow and Metzosoprano's friend and drote, a friend of Scheming sung by the high sun pierced piercings. Interpretation of sopranocyley marrotic bilad.
The most open and dramatic Aria is reserved for the central couple. The tenor's trabon D. Walker Vulcu was burning with desire and affection when he dizzed on the way to declare his love. As Leon Tin, Soprano's Simon Harcam played a role in demanding more tricks.
What about “L'Amant Anonyme” now? The waves of the production after 2020 have declined, and, unlike Bologne's great violin concerto, they are more skilled than the original. As an opera, it is much more difficult to revive.
But there is no doubt about whether it should return. Opera repertoire can be stubborn, but you need such occasional confectionery. At least “L'Amant Anony” is not worth ignoring so long.
