Fox News Digital has repeatedly assigned additional duties to ministers and other officials amid shootings and government reforms.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio was accused of serving as Trump's national security adviser on May 1 after the president announced that he had appointed former National Security Council chief Mike Waltz to serve as the United Nations US ambassador.
Rubio's role in the administration now includes leading the State Department. He serves as a proxy archivist for the US after Trump expelled a Biden-era appointee. He serves as the acting administrator for the US International Development Agency and works to dissolve the independent agency by September. He then takes the steer as a temporary national security advisor.
But Rubio doesn't just play multiple roles in Trump's second administration. Fox News Digital looks back at various Trump ministers and officials wearing multiple hats as the president works to reorganize the federal government to track his “American first” policies.

Rubio and the Trump administration fired from Democrats for the Secretary of State, who plays multiple well-known roles in the second administration, including Democrats who spoke up in National Security Council reforms on Sunday's news show.
“There's no way he can't do that, especially since Pete Hegses is the Secretary of Defense and is screaming from top leadership,” said Sen. Tammy Duckworth, a Democrat of Illinois, “Face the People” of CBS. “There's no way he'll carry all that load on his own.”
Trump will tap on his new national security advisor in six months. Waltz movements are called “upgrades.”
“I don't know how anyone can do these two big jobs,” Virginia Sen. Mark Warner said Sunday on CNN's “Affiliation Status.”
When asked about the trend of Trump officials wearing multiple work hats, the White House was reflected in former President Joe Biden's comments on Fox News Digital on “cabinet disasters.”
“Democrats cheered on Joe Biden's Cabinet disaster, launched a failed withdrawal of Afghanistan, opened southern borders to immigrant criminals and weaponised the judicial system against political adversaries,” White House spokesman Anne Kelly told Fox News Digital. “President Trump has met his administration with many talented individuals who are qualified to trust him to manage many of his responsibilities.”
The Trump administration has previously been concerned about Rubio's multiple roles, particularly serving as both the State Department leader and proxy national security adviser. Similarly, in 1973 former President Richard Nixon served as Secretary of State simultaneously with then-National Security Adviser Henry Kissinger.
“We need a team player who is very honest with the president and senior team, not someone trying to build an empire, exercise a knife or drive his own agenda. He's focused on providing the president's agenda,” an administration official told Politico.
Rubio's multiple national security roles emerged as wars continued between Russia and Ukraine, Israel and Gaza, and recently launched attacks from India in Pakistan.
“I am closely monitoring the situation between India and Pakistan,” Rubio said in the X-Post on Tuesday. “I remember @Potus' comment today that this will soon be over and that we will continue to be involved in both India and Pakistan's leadership towards a peaceful solution.”
With Rubio dealing with multiple roles, the Trump administration's foreign policy is closely involved with special envoys, particularly Steve Witkoff, Trump's special envoy to the Middle East.

Witkov is a former real estate tycoon and longtime ally of Trump's administration focused on the Trump administration, and has been negotiating with Russia amid leading talks with Iran over the war with Ukraine and its nuclear program. Witkov was especially recognized for helping to secure the release of US school teacher Mark Vogel from a Russian prison in February.
Fox News Digital reached out to the State Department to comment on Rubio's multiple roles, but did not receive a response.
Kash Patel

FBI director Kash Patel, who opposed the “deep state” and vowed to strip federal law enforcement of corruption prior to confirmation, was temporarily charged with overseeing alcohol, cigarettes, firearms and explosives (ATFs) in February after the Biden-era director resigned in January.
Patel was later replaced by the secretary of Army Daniel Driscoll, who acted as ATF director amid the employment change publicly reported in April.

“Coach Kash Patel was temporarily appointed ATF Director while awaiting confirmation from the Senate. A standard short-term move. Dozens of similar redesignations have occurred across the federal government,” the White House told Reuters in April. “Coach Patel is currently excelling in his role with the FBI and has outstanding results.”
Daniel Drisco

Driscoll was sworn in February as the Army's 26th Secretary. The Secretary of the Army is a senior-level civilian official charged with overseeing the management of the Army and also acts as an advisor to the Secretary of Defense on issues related to the Army.
In April, it was reported that Driscoll was appointed as a proxy for the ATF Director and replaced Patel in that role.
The new Army Secretary praises Trump, Hegses for creating “lanes for change.”
“Driscoll will be responsible for overseeing the agency's mission to protect communities from illegal trafficking of violent criminals, criminal organizations, firearms, explosives and contraband. Under his leadership, the ATF will enforce federal laws, ensure public safety, provide important support in investigating firearms-related subjects and international criminal enterprises.
Before Trump took office, Republicans Eric Burrison of Missouri and Lauren Boebert of Colorado said they had introduced laws to eliminate the ATF and that the agency worked to strip American citizens of the second amendment.
The ATF is tasked with supporting the Department of Homeland Security in its international security efforts under the Trump administration.
Doug Collins

Former Georgia Republican Rep. Doug Collins was sworn in February as Trump administration's veteran affairs secretary. This is a ministerial level position that oversees the department and oversees its mission to provide health, education and economic benefits to military veterans.
A few days after confirmation as VA Secretary, Trump tapped Collins to temporarily lead two watchdogs, the Government Ethics Bureau and the Special Advisors Bureau.

The Government Ethics Bureau has been charged with overseeing administrative department ethics programs, including setting government ethics standards and monitoring ethics compliance across federal agencies and departments.
The Special Advisors Office is accused of overseeing and protecting the federal merit system, and will not face retaliation, particularly for issuing an alarm about issues experienced by federal whistleblowers. The office also has established secure channels to allow federal employees to blow whis away with suspicious misconduct.
The Special Advisors Office also implements the Hatch Act, which prohibits administrative staff from engaging in certain forms of political activity, except for the President and Vice President.

Trump has appointed his former Director of Management and Budget Office based on the same role in his second administration, Russell. Vought was confirmed as the federal government's budget manager in February.
A few days later, Vought was also appointed as the proxy director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

The CFPB is an independent governmental body responsible for protecting consumers from unfair financial practices in the private sector. It was created under the Obama administration in 2010 after the financial crash in 2008. Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren initially proposed and advocated the establishment of an agency.
The CFPB underwent a fierce investigation from the government's Ministry of Efficiency in February, shaking the agency before mass termination was detained in court.
Rick Grenell

The paired roles held in separate eras in the first administration, former German ambassador Donald Trump and acting director of national intelligence under his first term are now president of the Kennedy Center and special envoy for the US Special Mission.
Grenell is developing a “common sense” plan to turn the Kennedy Center's finances
The John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts serves as Trump's National Cultural Center in the United States. In particular, he chairs the Centre's board of directors. Grenell says that Americans will actually see the “golden age” of art through Trump's second administration and concerts through concerts, as well as Americans will actually see the “golden age” of arts through longtime productions and concerts.
Trump nominated Grenell as the special presidential envoy to the United States in December before he took office, saying that Grenell “works in some of the hottest spots in the world, including Venezuela and North Korea.”

In this role, Grenell helped lead the administration through the beginning of the Trump administration, through response to the wildfires that tore Southern California on the last day of the Biden administration.
Rather than appointing or nominating other qualified individuals, Fox News Digital contacted the White House to comment on administrative officials who play multiple well-known roles, but received no response.
