Saquon Barkley expects former teammate Daniel Jones to have the same success he had with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The New York Giants announced Friday that they had agreed to waive Jones after he requested release from the team, days after they benched third-team quarterback and fan favorite Tommy DeVito.

“Daniel came to see me this morning and asked if I would like to release him, and we mutually agreed that it was in the best interest of him and the team,” president John Mara said in a statement.

“Daniel is a great representative of our organization and is first class in every way. His response to this situation yesterday exemplified just that. We are all disappointed in the way things have turned out. We hold Daniel in high esteem and are indebted to him. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors. ”
The move wasn't surprising, as Jones has struggled since signing a four-year, $160 million deal in 2023. Jones led the Giants to their only playoff victory in his six seasons with the team.
With Jones departing, former teammate Saquon Barkley was asked Friday for his thoughts on the decision.

“I'm not going to talk about it too much. I've been in contact with him. Our friendship has always been close while I've been here. I'm really sorry to see what happened to him over there. is.”
“I have nothing but great things to say about him. I think it's hard to find someone who can really say a lot of negative things about him. But that's the NFL. Hopefully, wherever he goes next, they I hope I can be just like them.''We're going to hire people to come and work.'' ”
Barkley signed a three-year contract with the Eagles during the offseason as his tenure in New York began to sour as he tried to negotiate a long-term contract.

The star running back, who already has over 1,000 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns this season, believes Jones can find similar success elsewhere.
“It didn't work out over there, but it worked out here. And hopefully he can find the same kind of fresh start and success.”
