First on FOX: An Illinois school district facing national scrutiny after allegations of forcing middle school girls in the same locker room as transgender students, is being referred to the Department of Justice.
Law firm America First Legal (AFL) made a criminal referral to DOJ on Tuesday to District Deerfield Public Schools 109, urging the department to investigate districts and middle schools where allegations have occurred regarding potential violations of federal and state law.
The AFL alleged that the district violated Code §241, also known as the “conspiracy against rights” law. This makes it a crime of two or more people to conspiracy to injure, suppress, intimidate or intimidate at the free movement or enjoyment of rights or privileges protected by the Constitution or law.
“We ask that your office immediately open a directed criminal investigation into alleged complaints about §241 violations and take all necessary measures,” the complaint reads.
Ian, a senior counselor at the AFL, proposed a criminal investigation in a statement.
“The situation at Deerfield Public Schools exceeds Title IX violations and is escalating to a situation that calls for the Department of Justice to launch a criminal investigation.

The U.S. Department of Education's Civil Rights Office announced in late March that it would begin an investigation into Title IX violations for the Illinois Department of Education, Chicago Public Schools 299, and Deerfield Public Schools 109 District 109.
Illinois mother Nicole Georgas revealed the situation last month when school administrators filed a civil rights complaint with the Department of Justice after they allegedly tried to force their 13-year-old daughter to change in front of transgender students in the girls' locker room last month.
Georgas told Fox News Digital on Tuesday that he was “praying” for justice with his daughter in a request for investigation.

“I pray for justice for Kate and for all the girls whose rights are so mercilessly ignored,” Georgas said.
Georgas revealed the complaint last week at the Deerfield Public Schools District 109 school board meeting. The incident allegedly occurred last month after her daughter refused to change her uniform during physical education as a biological male student was present at the time.
“The girls want to get their locker rooms and bathrooms back. They want to get their privacy back. So I'm here tonight. My 13-year-old daughter's happiness, mental health and privacy are at risk,” Jogus said in a speech at the board meeting Thursday.
Georgas then raised the issue to the school administration, pointing out to them that he believes President Donald Trump is directly violating the fact that he has kept men out of women's sports executive orders. In her speech, the school administrator said, under the direction of a legal counsel, she informed her that transgender students were free to use both the girls' bathroom and the girls' locker room.
Fox News Digital has contacted DPS 109 for comments.
The district previously provided a statement to Fox News Digital in response to a DOE investigation.

“Deerfield Public Schools District 109 is governed by state law. The Illinois Human Rights Act prohibits all public school districts, including gender identity, from discriminating on the basis of gender, and requires students to allow access to locker rooms and bathrooms according to their gender identity.
“We are sensitive to the privacy needs of all middle school students and ensure that there is no need to change to gym uniforms for the previous PE classes of other students. If both middle schools were renovated in 2017, we added five private change stations available to all students.
The district also said it will work with local families to decide on the next step.
“The district and the board are united with our leaders and educators on this issue and have a common commitment to supporting the law,” the statement continued.
“The district and the board are calling on all people who express concerns and perspectives on the issue to ensure that staff and educators are respectful and civic. We are pleased to work with our families to determine the appropriate next step to help our children in the well-being and participation.”
