After one of golf's most historic seasons in 2024, 2025 won't be the ideal start for Scottie Scheffler.
The current PGA Player of the Year and No. 1 golfer in the world will miss next week's Sentry Tournament after undergoing hand surgery.
In a statement released Friday, Scheffler's manager, Blake Smith, said Scheffler “suffered a stab wound to his right hand” while preparing dinner on Christmas Day. said.

“A small piece of glass remained in my palm and required surgery. I was told I should be back to 100% in three to four weeks,” Smith said, adding that Scheffler has officially withdrawn from Sentry. He added that he did.
Scheffler's next scheduled tournament is the American Express, which begins on January 16th. This year's Sentry is being named the signature event as it is the first of eight tournaments.
Scheffler's injury came months after he finished one of the best seasons in PGA history. He started the season with four top-10 finishes in his first five events. Then he shifted into gear again. He won four and tied for second in the next five tournaments. He won the Arnold Palmer Invitational, The Players, the RBC Heritage, and the Masters.

But his season took a sudden turn when he was arrested en route to the second round of the PGA Championship at Valhalla in May. He casually shot 66 later that day after serving time in prison. He finished tied for eighth in the tournament.
Scheffler then won the Memorial and Travelers in June, and the gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Including the Olympics, Schaeffler has eight wins, two second-place finishes, 17 top-10 finishes and zero qualifications in 20 events. His seven wins in PGA events are his most since 2007.
