Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., said he looks forward to working with the Trump administration and expects President-elect Donald Trump to stick to his promise on the interest rate cap.
“I look forward to working together to fulfill the Trump administration's promise to cap credit card interest rates at 10%,” Sanders said in a post on X on Friday.
“We cannot continue to allow the big banks to charge 25% to 30% interest rates to defraud Americans and make record profits. That is usury.”
Several X users praised Sanders and thanked him for supporting Trump's efforts.

“Thank you for trying to focus on the potential benefits of the next administration rather than fear-mongering,” one official said.
Another source commented, “Bernie doesn't agree with Trump about the contents of my election BINGO card.''

Left-leaning members of the Senate Democratic Caucus have ripped into the Democratic Party following Trump's victory in the 2024 presidential election, accusing the party of abandoning the working class.
“It's not really surprising that the Democratic Party, which has abandoned working-class people, realizes that the working class has abandoned them. First it was the white working class, now it's the white working class. The same goes for Latino workers and black workers.” stated in a previous statement.

“While Democratic leaders defend the status quo, the American people are angry and want change. And they are right.”
Sanders characterized Harris' campaign as “disastrous.”
“Can the big interest interests and highly paid consultants who control the Democratic Party learn any real lessons from this disastrous campaign?” he asked.
“Will they understand the pain and political alienation that tens of millions of Americans are experiencing?” he added. “Do they have any ideas about how to counter an increasingly powerful, economically and politically powerful oligarchy? Probably not. ”
Republicans secured a majority in the Senate in the 2024 elections, but Sanders, 83, has just won another six-year term in the House of Representatives since 2007.

“Incredibly, the average American worker's real weekly wage adjusted for inflation is actually lower than it was 50 years ago,” Sanders previously said. “Today, despite the explosion in technology and worker productivity, many young people still have a lower standard of living than their parents.”
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) joined a number of Democrats who were offended by Sanders' comments.
“With all due respect, I greatly respect what Mr. Sanders is saying, but I don't respect his statement that the Democratic Party has abandoned working class families. That is our position.” Pelosi he told the New York Times podcast “The Interview” on Saturday.
