Senate Republicans are following President-elect Donald Trump's direction and preparing to rush through cabinet and lower-level nominations when his second term begins in January.
Republican Sen. Bernie Moreno of Ohio recently announced his support for Trump's nomination in a statement, saying, “The American people have given President Trump a mandate. I want Senate Republicans to quickly confirm the nominee.'' is important,” he said.
“The Republican majority must come together to deliver a strong Cabinet so we can implement America First policies as quickly as possible.”

That sentiment is echoed by other Republicans as they discuss various Trump nominations for key roles.
“Ideally, let's get through this process successfully,” Sen. Mark Wayne Mullin (R-Okla.) recently told reporters. Let’s get it done.”

In the days since his election, Mr. Trump has announced more than a dozen Cabinet picks and various roles within his administration.
With Republicans gaining a majority in the Senate in the new year, much of the confirmation process for President Trump's choices is expected to go smoothly, with the exception of some of the more controversial picks. But candidates who may be short on votes, like former Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz, may withdraw voluntarily before it becomes an issue.

“The top priority for the new Senate Republican majority is to confirm the Trump campaign as quickly as possible when they take back the gavel in January,” said Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C.
Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.) echoed this in his own post on X, writing, “President Trump's Cabinet should be approved quickly and without delay.”
Not only would the Senate and White House be under Republican control, but the House would also be controlled by Republicans. With this in mind, Republicans are preparing to quickly pass much of President Trump's agenda through Congress.

Republicans do not have the 60 votes to win a closing vote in the Senate, but they are preparing to bypass hurdles through budget reconciliation to pass much of President Trump's economic and tax plan.

Trump, in particular, only has one more term in office. He will not be eligible to run again in 2028. The next president could be a Democrat or a Republican with different policy goals and preferences. Republicans' rush to implement President Trump's policies may be motivated by this knowledge.
