Vice President Harris was mocked online after she once again showed off her “new accent” during a Congressional Black Caucus event on Saturday night.
“Hello, my brothers and sisters of the Divine Nine,” Harris said at the Congressional Black Caucus' Phoenix Awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., “and hello to my brothers and sisters at HBCUs.”
The account End Wokeness shared the video on X, writing, “BREAKING: Kamala Harris shows off new accent at Congressional Black Caucus dinner.”
“New? Or her old fake black accent?” responded Paul A. Cipra, an X-user with over 232,700 followers. “Either way, it's incredibly insulting to black people. Shame on you Kamala.”
“New: Kamala Harris shows off her new accent at the Congressional Black Caucus' 2024 Phoenix Awards ceremony in Washington DC,” Collin Rugg wrote to his 1.4 million followers, sharing the video with X. “'Hello my holy brothers and sisters, I am my solo.'” Kamala has been showing off her new accent at various times throughout her campaign.
“Kamala Harris is the accent today,” columnist James Hasen wrote to X's 275,000 followers.

Other X users pointed out that Harris grew up in Canada but has spoken with a variety of accents from around the US depending on where she campaigns.
Harris' “sacred nine” comment was a reference to her being a member of a historically black sorority while attending Howard University.
Fox News Digital reached out to the Harris campaign for comment on Sunday.
Earlier this month, the vice president was panned for appearing to use different accents in parallel footage while campaigning in Detroit and Pittsburgh, just hours apart.
Fox News' Peter Doocy pressed White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on the issue, asking, “Since when has the vice president had a Southern accent?”
“I have no idea what you're talking about,” Jean-Pierre said from the White House podium earlier this month.
“She spoke in the same tone about unions in Detroit,” Doocy said, “and in Pittsburgh she spoke in the same tone, but at least it sounded like she had a Southern accent.”

White House dismisses question about Kamala Harris' new 'Southern accent' as 'completely nonsensical'
“I mean, are you listening to the question… I mean, do you really think the American people think this is an important issue?” Jean-Pierre shot back. “They care. You know what they care about? They care about the economy. They care about cost savings. They care about health care. That's what the American people care about…”

Harris is now looking to win the support of black voters. At the Congressional Black Caucus dinner held just before her inauguration, President Biden spoke of Harris as the first black and South Asian female vice president, saying, “God willing, she will be the first woman president of the United States.”
On Tuesday, Harris is scheduled to meet with members of the National Association of Black Journalists in Philadelphia, and on Thursday she will appear at a livestreamed rally hosted by Oprah Winfrey and featuring groups including “Win With Black Women,” “White Women Answer the Call” and “South Asians for Harris,” according to the Associated Press.
