The Pittsburgh Steelers are 4-2 with Justin Fields under center, but rumors suggest his time as a starter may be over.
On Tuesday, reports emerged that Russell Wilson was set to make first-team appearances this week, a clear sign that he would start this weekend.
Wilson won over Fields for the starting spot in training camp, but was ruled out by a calf injury before the opening game.

Fields was then traded to the Chicago Bears and got a second chance, and he was successful. The Steelers are tied for first in the division thanks in large part to their top-notch defense, but Fields' 66.3 completion percentage is a career-high and he only turned the ball over twice.
Wilson offers more upside in the passing game, but coincidentally was not released by the Denver Broncos before overtime was kicked.
So in the wake of Pittsburgh's success, Ben Roethlisberger is saying if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
“Right now I'm not thinking about taking him out of the game at all. I'll keep him there. Even if he has a bad game, I'll keep him there.” Roethlisberger recently said. Rolling…I think he's playing well enough and I think he's doing enough to make things happen and create, especially with the way he uses his feet. ”

Roethlisberger is also impressed with Fields' ability to extend plays and use his feet when needed.
“I thought he played well. It's good to know what you have in Russ' backup if you need him. But what you get from Russ is to throw the ball down the field.” I think it's more of a pocket presence. But you're not going to extend plays like Justin.
Mike Tomlin told reporters on Tuesday, shortly after those reports broke, that he was only thinking about starting Wilson this Sunday. Last weekend, he was listed as an active player for the first time this season, but was ruled a reserve.
Fields also rushed for 231 yards in the first six games. That's nowhere near the 1,143-yard pace he's aiming for in 2022, but it certainly doesn't cost the team games and is about all Pittsburgh could have asked for.

Wilson went 11-19 as a starter with the Broncos in 2022 and 2023, completing 63.3 percent of his passes for 6,594 yards, 42 touchdowns and 19 interceptions.
The Steelers host the New York Jets on Sunday night, who have lost three straight but continue to please Aaron Rodgers after trading for Davante Adams.
